Due to the Coronovirus COVID-19 Pandemic there has been an increase of 120.3% claiming financial support from the government in the form of Universal credit. (source ons)
The National Lockdown in the UK forced the government to add a certain number of enhancements to the UC system to improve the chances of eligibility for many households in need throughout the country.
Since April, there has been 2.7 million who are on no or low incomes and in need of the all the financial support they can get. At Just Finance Foundation, we recognised that keeping up with changes could be confusing to those helping in the communities. In our team, we created the COVID Cash Course. A one-stop shop of essential information allowing those working in the communities to feel confident supporting those in financial distress. We had a massive response, delivering to over 750 fantastic community workers who have then gone on to share the information with their teams and communities.
